Three weeks of day camp on a farm, featuring nature and science
studies with field trips and culture, arts and crafts every afternoon!
Sign up for one, two or all three weeks, mornings, afternoons,
or all day!
Open to children ages 5-10.
Session One: July 9-13
Mornings: 9am-12pm
Building & Shelter:
Following the wild success of last summer's brick and adobe architecture,
we're aiming to build our own post-and-beam wooden structure. Also, make a
mud & brick outdoor oven, thatch a roof and look at shelter around the world.
Afternoons: 1pm-4pm
Life in the Middle Ages!
Come experience the music, arts and crafts and food of medevil Europe. We'll
make castles and catapults, musical instruments and family crests, feasts and
fun!
Session Two: July 16-20
Mornings: 9am-12pm
Stars & Space: Why
did Pluto get bumped from planet status? How does a solar eclipse work?
Exactly how far away are those planets from each other? We'll find out with
a solar system model - paced out on our 10 acres! Planetarium field trip.
Afternoons: 1pm-4pm
On the Farm:
Watching chicks hatch and picking apples is great fun, but there's work to
be done - like making ice cream and butter by hand. Yum! Also carding,
spinning, weaving and knitting with wool from our sheep.
Session Three: July 23-27
Mornings: 9am-12pm
Insects: Silk
and honey. Let's watch them be made by two of our favorite insects as
we visit a honey producer and raise our own silkworms! Also, an "ant"
farm and more games, art and projects.
Afternoons: 1pm-4pm
The Wonder of China:
Ceramics, kites, lanterns, calligraphy, paper shoes, wheelbarrows and
felt armor - all the Chinese inventions to explore. And then there's
the mystery of the standing wave...
